In the tech world, it seems that every new, innovative company is the brainchild of some former Founder/Investor/Partner of a major tech-behemoth like Google, Facebook, Yahoo, etc. You typically hear that some brilliant, Ivy League grad, bored one night wrote some code, raised $500 million and is now changing the world! Well we’re not Ivy League grads with half a billion dollars BUT our story gets more and more exciting every day…

BuxBack actually started nearly a decade ago when Brian Booth (BuxBack CEO & Founder) was selling direct mail advertising to local merchants. One of his least favorite aspects of that business was the inability to prove the performance of any advertising he sold merchants. With Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising becoming increasingly available to online merchants as a performance-based model, Brian knew there had to be a better way for offline (local) merchants to benefit from a similar system.

In 2008, Brian’s search began for a performance-based rewards program that would benefit both merchants and consumers. The research confirmed that consumers do NOT like carrying extra cards, presenting coupons or tracking points with unfair redemption values. With consumer trends demanding ease-of-use and convenience coupled with traditional merchant advertising losing its effectiveness, the environment was prime for a seamless, local commerce program.

With money raised between Brian, friends and family, he quickly recruited some key individuals and together began customizing the network of consumers and merchants. BuxBack is now positioned to take local commerce to the next level. In fact, a nationwide network of thousands of local merchants seamlessly connected with millions of consumers is in the making.
